I liked LAPD's red/ blue halogen rotators..... nothing beath the constant GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR sound of the grinding gears of the light bar!

i also like the 2 light halogen flasher's on the rear deck.

just from expierence the halogen throws out a longer light and can be seen thru the fog where the strobe light is intense but does not last as long.

as for LED, Very bright, but have not seen them in the fog, i like led due the the bright light and the length of time lit.......

We just recently went over to strobes w/ a LED conversion for the future in the rear flashers on the light bar. We got rid of the LAPD style light bar due to it fading too quickly and it required too much mantainence.

The new package we have is great and you can see us both coming and going from far greater distance that you did w/ the hologens. I would also recomend to everyone to invest in the side view mirror strobes or LEDs. We have them w/ a split blue and white and they really make your cruiser stand out especially in the day time.

we just got rid of the old whelen 4 strobe Edge lights, w/the front and rear halogen flashers. Good lightbar, but after 10+ years they were faded, and useless.

Replaced with the Whelen patriot 4 front strobes/2 front leds, 2 rear strobes 4 rear leds. The only complaint is the yellow/red leds suck. The blue is good though.

Cars also have taillight flashers, yellow arrowstick in the back deck, and front grill/corner strobes

IN order:

LEDS
Strobes
Halogens

Of course, a mixture of all three is great, LEDS are by far much more mature now and much better! A lot of departments are starting to go total LED up here like VSP and soon we are.

I only like strobe lightbars with the two halogen takedowns on the front and two halogen rear-flashers on the rear. I like the mirror strobes not the LEDs and I love the hide-a-way strobes to put in the sidemarkers, front directionals, and reverse lights.

Not a great fan of LEDs, I think they are alright. As far as halogen rotators, I strongly dislike them.

Yeah I agree the new LED lightbars are great:wink: we have the new Whelen Libery all LED lightbars and there extremley bright even in direct sunlight there still extremley visible unlike the other cars with the old whelen edges which are starting to fade and suck during the day:twisted:

Personally I think LED light bars on the Expedition don't look right. They look lost on there. LEDs on cars, Halogens on SUVs and strobs on either or.
