LEAPS/CJIS Terminals

5698 Views 10 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  tomahawk
Can anyone provide me with information on the CJIS/LEAPS terminals? Specifically I am wondering a rough estimate of cost for the hardware and software. I work for a department that does not have a terminal. We have to call other departments in order to retrieve information which can sometimes be a pain in the butt. Thanks for any insight you can give me.

Call CJIS to inquire...617-660-4600....that should be the number for field services and they can direct you to the appropriate department. Are you a law enforement agency with police powers?
Roughly 3000 dollars to set you up for 1 terminal. You can get your own computer but it has to be compatible to CJIS standards and requirements. There is also a monthly service fee I believe of 100 dollars. Call CJIS ext: field services and speak to William Dunn he is the authorized service rep. Good Luck, Are you a law enforcement department?????
MSP1821,

Wentworth just finished the installation of the new system last month (we did not have it either). From the cost of Verizon to run the necessary dedicated phone line, application fees, computer system, printer, software, and installation. I think the cost was over $10,000. The guy you want to talk to is Kmf294 .
Thanks for the insight. I do work for a campus police department with police powers for those that are wondering. We just don't have a terminal setup and I was curious as to the cost. Thanks guys.
Was wondering what college departments have lap tops mounted in the cruisers.....access to the CAD / NCIC / messaging...etc.
Figure you need the software, PacketCluster or some other patrol computer suite, $25k-ish. Then you need the radio freq. probably another $25k and yearly costs. Then you need the radio modems and laptop for each cruiser, about $5k each car….

You need much $.

You do not have to get a radio freq for mobile data... I know the cellular-style service as it exists now is changing, but there are still other options that are similar (and probably cheaper, especially up-front).
