Why is it when you apply there you never get a call back? I have talked to others that have applied and are also qualified for the job and nothing is heard from them?

Only a guess! But maybe their HR makes them post it, but they already have an internal candidate.

I don't know much about the department but I do know they are allowed to do Newton details. (That's got to be a plus).

They are armed! (Plus number 2).

I asked around and Conlin is in charge of hiring. And I guess he will even send out to the full academy. He is very picky on who he picks for the job. All I can say keep putting in for it and hopefully you will get called.

LT.Ed Conlin does the hiring. If he doesn't like you, you wont get the job. They send you to the SSPO within a year.

You must have an AS. and RI to even be considered. Junior officer rides the pine 3 out of his/her 5 nights at the old folks home.

Starting pay is 15 and change. (last i checked)

I worked there part time for several years. Not a bad little college police department. I had a great time there saw some police work, Newton helps you with the booking without bitching unlike some towns I know and love. I moved to a town that was way too long of a commute so I left.. LT Conlin interviews with police MGL, PC, Powers of Arrest, Sheriff powers etc type questions so know your stuff to articulate it. Lasell was the only police interview beside the college I worked now that asked me relative questions to police work instead of the other bolonie they ask you on interviews.

You forgot the famous do you or have you ever had sex with animals EG Concord NH I laughed and said why do you have a problem in the department with this. Probably did'nt get the job because of it oh well I got over it.....

15 and change to start, they send you to the SSP academy, Newton details, armed department, very selective about who they hire, student body that isn't thinking about how much alcohol they can consume each night. This sounds like a very good gig.. Sure beats Fisher College.....

When I was their the student body were pretty down to earth to the cops in casual conversation. However Lasell student are very clicky. I remember major fights resulting in 20 Lasell kids kicking the shit out of 5 or so non students and nobody would co-operate. These type of fights happen several times when I worked there. Its quiet as a mouse Sunday through Wednesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday was mardi grade in Newton... It was really a fun place to work.
