I hadn't heard of this incident before, so if anyone else is unfamiliar with it too...
Hush, where did you find this? We just watched this in roll call a few weeks ago for the very first time as the department just finished making it recently.
This happened my very first day of the academy. Three of the four officers died and it was the very first night of the only officer who survived. I remember seeing him around the academy months later wearing a "halo" due to his broken neck.
They brought the two patrol cars to the academy and placed them where we formed up several times a day to make an impression on us that this is a dangerous job and on the importance of wearing seat belts. It became policy after this incident. I have a picture of them at that spot. The whole incident is very sad and truly never should have happened.
It was posted on the LE section of www.Lightfighter.net. Looks like by a member of the LAPD. There is some great stuff on there, I do a lot of re-posting
Thanks for the share, sent it along to my uncle who said he hadn't seen it, but got a lot out of it and sent it along to a few of his fellow officers
Thanks for sharing Hush. My girl refuses to wear a seatbelt and I don't know what I can do to change it...

Is your uncle former LAPD?
He wouldn't have already seen this video because it was just recently completed and released. We just saw it a couple of weeks ago for the first time.
Outstanding. I'm going to share it with my people.
Thank you for making that, LAPD.
