As I heard it, the Troopers are going to be working the roads leading into Pittsfield to free up more of Pittsfield's officers from doing traffic and work more on the issues that you guys have been having out there.
I think you're reading about the wave of transfers for the newest Troopers that will take place soon. During the next bid cycle, junior Troopers will replace senior ones that want to move east.
There are no additional Troopers heading anywhere. There are always negotiations ongoing between the MSP and Pittsfield PD about CAT teams or helping patrol the "feeder" roads. If the money is there then maybe they'll do CAT team patrol like in Springfield.

I believe what you are referring to is the directed patrol for Pittsfield. Senator Nucforo was able to secure $50000 for the State Police to send what amounted to 6 motivated Troopers  per shift into the city limits to "kick ass and take names". Due to bitching by the PD administration (i.e. chief) it only took place during the month of June, but was highly successful non the less.
In this years budget Senator Nuciforo was again able to secure $50000 for a State Police directed patrol. However, this time it will be for Berkshire County instead of just Pittsfield. As a result SOT, drive carefully through town because, believe it or not, your town is a HUGE drug corridor!!!
