Duties: Making security checks of students, buildings and grounds. Remains alert to communication needs, especially during emergencies. Documents all incidents according to established procedure. Communicates internally with staff as well as with outside agencies, CIC, Notification Systems, and the general public. Relays pertinent information to administration. Assists in training control staff, performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in law enforcement, in a governmental police force or in work involving the protection or security of buildings, equipment or people as the major duty, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in police science, law enforcement or criminal justice may be substituted for the required experience.*
*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
Special Requirements:
I. Based on assignment, appointee must be eligible for appointment as a special police officer under Chapter 147 of the Massachusetts General Laws.
II. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comments: This is a civil service position. If there is no civil service list for this title, employees appointed must take and pass the next Civil Service examination when administered.
Transportation Requirement: Valid Mass Driver's License, must have reliable transportation.
Minimum Age Requirement: 21 years.
Employment is contingent on a Criminal Offense Records Information (CORI) Check.
Working Hours: 3:00pm-11:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
Days Off: Sunday & Monday.
