well after a year of the military telling me the pain in my legs and back was from stress and a pulled muscle (not the herniated disc and narrowing spinal canal). An MRI, 2 ER Dr.s, a Professor/Doc of Neurology, a Neurosurgeon, A physical therapy Doctor, 2 Navy docs, 3 different physical therapist (3 different physical therapy routines) a month of bed rest and no medication --> my jerk off command decided that they can't and haven't been able to treat me out here. So to that end I am getting medevac'd to Portsmouth VA naval Hospital for a whole month  of course i don't know when i will b leaving or if I am coming back. so wish me luck!

Good Luck EOD1, my experience so far with military doc's hasnt been the best...I had one tell me that because of the pain in my feet from the crap ass boots they issued us, that if they hurt as much as they say I do, then I should just be discharged from the military, rather than letting me go and purchase/wear another type of issue/military boot...go figure

what really bothers me is that they never listened and that they kept me serving. it would have been great if it ruptured on a fast rope under fire, on an oil platform in the gulf or at 200 feet of shit ass gulf sea water. that and the damn military hands out motrin like old people hand out apples on Halloween and i can't even get that. other people i talked to were on all sorts of drugs to help ease the pain- i am popping Tylenol PM like good and plenties to get maybe 2 hours of half descent sleep- i have spent $30+ in the last 2 weeks on sleeping pills and still can't sleep worth a damn

Been there done that. herniated disks are no fun. About the worst pain one could have. I had back pain all through high school and all the Drs did was feed me pills. This went on for about 10 years then one day i could not get out of bed. Demanded an MRI and 2 months later I had surgery. That was 5 years ago. From time to time it bothers me but I am able to function. Take motrin if you can it acts as an anti-inflammatory Tylenol does not.
good luck, hell of a way to get a ticket home.

How about this one. Family member goes for MRI about eight years ago(Vietnam vet). comes home and two days later he feels something pulling on his sweater. The shrapnel from his 2 purple hearts and Bronze Star was pulled from his body because of the magnet in the machine. The VA cut and pulled approx 1/2 pound of metal from his neck/shoulder/back. He kept the stuff comprising of tops of screws and bits and pieces. He retired from work within 6 months and received 100% from the VA.

The ringing in your ears is also stress. everything is stress. The next thing you know they will say take these psych meds. My answer: yeah, I get stressed everytime I hear loud noises? hey, stupid maybe my eardrum was popped because of the aircraft engines. Not the brightest people.

Hey EOD1. Sounds like you've seen the Docs here at WARB. I herniated myself moving a barrier at the gate a couple years ago. Had the surgery and one week after I came here to drop off the paperwork and the Doc ordered me back to work. I still had the staples in me. Carry a weapon and 85 pounds of gear with staples from a hernia repair!!

I was pissed! Typical military BS. Unless these guys have been combat medics or Docs, and seen real wounds/injuries, they have no idea. My prayers go out to you. I feel your pain. LITERALLY

Bs Safe, and thanks for your service.
