How many questions were on the Corrections exam given on 03/19/05? I could've sworn there were only 80 questions. If that's the case would a score of 80 be considered 100? Thanks in advance!

There's this new thing out, it's called MATH. You can do all kinds of wonderful things with it too!

If there was 80 questions, that means that each each question is worth 1.25 points. Say you got 1 question wrong out of 80.

100.00
- 1.25
______
=98.75

I don't know if they round up or round down the test scores. The ways of Civil Service sometimes baffle me.

I'm serious Philly! It says I scored a 94 but it's not adding up. Perhaps Housingcop is right and you're given 1.25 points per Q?
if there was 4 questions, each one would be worth 25 points, 5 questions would be 20 points each, 50 questions= 2points each, 75 questions 1.333333333333 each. get it?

Proud Am - if HC is correct on the value per question, a 94 score would be unattainable.
There is no whole numerical value that can be multiplied by 1.25 that would result in 6.

One theory I have is that each question is actually worth 1 point and the minimum score going in is 20.
Meaning; if you got all 80 questions wrong; you still scored a 20.
If you answered all 80 correct, you score a 100. (80 @ 1pt. + 20)

Thus, I assume you actually got 6 wrong, resulting in your 94 score.
Everybody goes in with a score of 20, + 1 point per 80 questions. Reasonable hypothesis HC????

And you want to be a C.O.? Just a heads up, you need to know how to count and add and maybe even subtract.

No need to slit your wrist. What is it saying you scored is it lowever than a 80? I may have an explanation for you. I spoke with someone at CS.

yes it was a 78
Ok this is straight from a rep at the CS HR office. There were only 80 questions on the test. You receive 1 point for each question. You needed a minimum of 70 to pass However they plan on calling 75 or higher.

When I informed him that My score shows a 94 on the paper he stopped short of calling me a liar. He went on to say that they've received a large volume of calls from confused applicants.

Everyone who called had a score of 80 or below on their result. My sheet for some reason says 94. I will be faxing a copy to their office tomorrow.

wow, now im confused...my sheet says i scored a 93, does that mean that my score could be wrong as well. ProudAmerican, so basically what your saying is if you got all 80 questions right then your score would be an 80 not 100...

You're confused? I don't even know what's going on anymore. I faxed my result sheet in to them earlier today showing I had a score of 94. They thought I was making it up. It still doesn't explain how the grade system worked. There were only 80 questions on the test. However Kozmo's theory contains some semblance of logic.

I'd suggest that the next time some one calls CS HR they ask if there is any perference's added to the over all score, such as being a Veteran, EMT, etc. I think the State Police gives 5 pts for being a Vet.

I know for a fact on the last COII (Sgt) test they added 2 pts on top of the over all score for being a Veteran.

An 80 correct should equal a 100% score. And yes they will the round the score up. I don't think they give 20 pts just for "showing up".

You guys are really making this difficult. Take a look at your test score sheet. On the left there is a "score by written subject" that is what you actually scored. I scored a 96.25. Round the .25 down because it's below 50%. I scored a 96. On the right side it says "Your Score: 96. Each question is worth 1.25. That means I got 3 wrong. If it says you got a 80, that means you got a 80. Not a 100%. Proud American, if you got a 94 and have vet staus, that means you got a 92 with 2 points added on. The State Police adds on 2 pts for vet status, your test score will show this automatically unless you recieved vet status after you took the test. Peace
