QUINCY -
A homeless man facing an attempted-murder charge for allegedly slashing another man on the face and neck with a box cutter was being held on $10,000 bail.
Stephen B. Cumminsky Jr., 31, and the victim argued about money and got into a fight at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Billings and Faxon roads, police Detective Lt. John Steele said.
Police received a report of the fight but found no one when they arrived. A short time later, they received a call from Quincy Medical Center reporting a man with slash wounds was there.
The injured man was transferred to Boston Medical Center. The Boston hospital does not release information about victims of violence.
Steele said the injured man was 30 but he would not say where he was from other than that he was not a Quincy resident.
Witnesses identified Cumminsky as the assailant, and officers found him hiding on the roof of a Billings Road house, Steele said. He surrendered without incident,
Cumminsky was also charged with mayhem and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
