The Obama administration said Monday it is suspending existing agreements with Arizona police over enforcement of federal immigration laws, and said it has issued a directive telling federal authorities to decline many of the calls reporting illegal immigrants that the Homeland Security Department may get from Arizona police.

Administration officials, speaking on condition they not be named, told reporters they expect to see an increase in the number of calls they get from Arizona police — but that won’t change President Obama’s decision to limit whom the government actually tries to detain and deport.

“We will not be issuing detainers on individuals unless they clearly meet our defined priorities,” one official said in a telephone briefing.

Their pay scale is such that I don't think they really care.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio should be the next head of Homeland Security.

Obama has already cause the death of law enforcement officers in Arizona with his policies. I hope they get the names and employee numbers of every person who refuses to help the State of Arizona and attach them to the illegals information. You know a number of them are going to kill someone after being set free!

They should file a law suit against every federal employee who refuses to do their jobs! I'm sure most of them want to do their jobs and help. Arizona should post their own 800 number for federal employees to throw their bosses under the bus.

How about we write in every police report where immigration status is in question that 1) Agent ***** at Immigration was contacted as well as their their Supervisor. 2) Copy of detailed report (what they are arrested for etc) then faxed/emailed to all area media outlets (of course you would probably want to fax some of these reports to the Michael Grahams 96.9FM, Jeff Katz 1200AM and folks like Glenn Beck, as we all know most local media around here is 1 sided in favor of liberals). Maybe if the average person/voter in MA sees what goes on (letting illegals walk free....) frequently, they'll stop voting left wing politicians into office.......

Arizona's law enforcement officials just got their legs cut out from under them, next will be there arms! Vote Rommney in November 2012!!!!

ICE responds to Arizona immigration call in first cooperation since court ruling

Federal agents on Monday night took into custody two suspected illegal immigrants stopped by Arizona sheriff's deputies – marking the first known time they have worked together on such a case since the Supreme Court ruling last week that upheld part of the state’s controversial immigration law.
The high court, while striking down most of the contested provisions, upheld a key part of the law that allows police to try to determine the immigration status of people stopped or arrested if reasonable suspicion arises that they're in the country illegally.
However, the Department of Homeland Security later announced that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents would only respond to Arizona calls that meet very specific criteria.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the incident Monday was the first such post-ruling encounter and that it involved two suspected illegal immigrants arrested during a traffic stop by his department’s Human Smuggling Unit.
He said the deputies called regional ICE agents after determining the suspects were in the country illegally.
