WHAT A DAY! Family members cheer as members of the Massachusetts National Guard return home to the Northampton Armory in Florence yesterday.
The meaning of Thanksgiving? Take one look at the tear-streaked, beaming faces of the men in camouflage and boots who arrived home from Afghanistan to greet their families in Bay State armories yesterday.
"It's great to have someone to come home to," said Massachusetts National Guard Spc. Michael Robert of Chicopee, 25, after embracing his wife, Kayla, in the Florence Armory.
Robert was among about 80 Guardsmen with the 182nd Engineer Company - responsible for clearing routes of explosives - who returned yesterday to Florence and Newburyport after being deployed most of the past year in Afghanistan.
