Harvard University police sent out a notice to students and staff alerting them of an attack on a woman walking through Harvard Yard early yesterday morning.

The woman, who was not a student, told police she was walking between Harvard and Hollis halls when a man approached from the front and attempted to grab her pocketbook, according to the advisory. A struggle ensued, and the robber hit the victim in the face several times. The man was able to obtain cash and fled from the scene through Johnston Gate. The victim suffered injuries to her face and head, police said.
The victim described the robber as a white male, clean-shaven, about 5-foot-10, of slim build, and with short dark hair. He was about 30 years old and was wearing a yellow or green polo-type shirt with dark pants, according to police.
Anyone with information is asked to call Harvard University police.
Yesterday's advisory follows similar ones police sent out in May after three reported assaults on the campus that month.
In one case, a male undergraduate was tackled from behind while walking at the intersection of Grant and Banks streets. The man fought off his attacker. In a separate instance, a man attacked a female from behind and put a wire around her neck as she walked near the school's Lamont Library on Quincy Street. In that case, the student kicked her attacker and fled.
In another case, a male student was assaulted by two men who jumped out of a car on Plympton Street.
Police said yesterday's attack was not related to the May cases, which remain under investigation.
Still, police reminded students and residents to be on alert while walking through campus and the surrounding area and to take precautious, such as walking with others, and to use the campus shuttle bus.

Too bad HUPD officers will be unable to question suspicious people due to the current probe. Oh, never mind, white men can be harassed by PO's with no consequences.
