A 24-year-old tattoo artist was shot to death in broad daylight yesterday by two masked gunmen who forced their way into the Dorchester rooming house where he lived, according to police and witnesses.
The shooting took place shortly after 10 a.m. at 110 Greenbrier St., police said.
Earl Harrison, 25, said he was visiting a woman who lives on the second floor when two men wearing masks kicked open the triple decker's front door and stormed inside.
"One guy snatched her up and tried to choke her, and the other went into Needle's room," Harrison said, referring to the victim, whose name police were withholding last night. "I heard a couple of gunshots, and she said, 'Oh, my God! Needle got shot!' "
The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where he died of his wounds, police said. His death marks the city's 50th homicide this year, compared to 59 by this time last year.
