I like Braintree rifle and pistol. www.brp.org.

If you are brand new to shooting I would look into taking one of the NRA Gun safety courses for two reasons. 1, you learn the most important
thing, SAFETY (cant take a bullet back) and 2, the courses spend some
time on the range w/ a variety of different guns.

good luck

Perfect place within a 10 mile radius is Woburn. The faciltiy is very nice, Open 24 hours and has several different ranges. Becoming a member is somewhat expensive at first but each year renewal is like 150.00.. Someone who shoots alot will get their moneys worth quickly.

HI all I'm a lil curious how to join one of these gun clubs if I don't know anyone that is a member already. I'm interested in the Massachusetts Rifle Association http://www.massrifle.com/ and I'm also interested in the Woburn Sportsmens Association http://members.aol.com/wsa1933/home.htm But they say you need to have a Sponsoring member. Anyone out here know anything about this? Or have anything to say about either clubs. Keep in mind that i'm a 23 so I don't know how these kind of places feel about "kids" my age being there. Thanks for any help!!

Mass Rifle Assoc is a great club. They offer the following:

100 and 200 yard outdoor rifle range.
25 yard indoor rifle/pistol range.
35 yard outdoor pistol range.
50 yard outdoor rifle/pistol range.
2 lighted trap ranges.
1 lighted sporting clays range.
1 archery range.
50 foot indoor rifle/pistol range.

They give you 24 hour access to the indoor ranges. I am a member there and have been for about 4 years. Don't worry about being 23yrs old, I joined when I was 22. As long as you can show them that you take gun safety seriously you will be all set. As far as needing a sponsor you just need to find a member to sign your application. If you need a sponsor send me a PM or an email and I will help you out.

How is the Somerville Aux going? Is Capt. Wing still there?
