BROCKTON -
The man accused of killing a high school sophomore in 2006 was convicted of first-degree murder this afternoon.
Robert Jacobs, 20, of Brockton, was convicted this afternoon in Brockton Superior Court. The jury, after deliberating five days, returned the verdict shortly after 2 p.m.
Jacobs was convicted of killing Jerard Rogers, 15, of Brockton, a sophomore at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in Easton, on Feb. 19, 2006 in Brockton.
He was sentenced to the mandatory life without parole by Judge Barbara Dortch-Okara.
Jacobs, who was 17 at the time of the killing, eluded police for more than a year before he was caught in July of 2007.
