WALTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A man was reportedly in "serious condition" at an area hospital after being shot by a Walton County Sheriff's Deputy.
The deputy responded to a disturbance call at a home on John Deere Road north of Monroe early Monday morning. When the deputy arrived he was confronted by a man standing in the road, waving a gun, Walton County Chief Detective Captain Chris Cannon said.
When the man refused repeated commands from the deputy to drop the gun, the deputy felt threatened, and shot the man, Cannon said.
The deputy was not injured.
Authorities have not released the names of the people involved in the shooting and have not said what the initial disturbance was about.
