Functional Alcoholic

We PCed a guy the other night who was banging on a friends door looking for some action. He was wasted but talking and walking. He refused the breath test when we took him in at 1:00 am. Come the morning at about 7:00 am we told him if he blew below .05 he could go, in my mind he looked and was acting sober enough. He took the test (mind you this is 6 hours later) and still blew a .19! Man talk about looks can be decieveing. Not to mention 58 on the BOP and revoked license for 10 years (5th Offense OUI). Anyone have similar experiences with functional alcoholics?

Had a guy passed out in his car in a bar parking lot, took his keys and left him sleeping in the parking lot of the bar. (He was in the backseat tucked away for the night) I encountered him around 12:30 AM just after roll call making the usual rounds.

6:30 AM guy walks into the station for his keys, walking and talking fairly good, but barely failed 2 out of 3 FST. Asked him if he would take a test and he agreed. Blew a 2.0

Called a friend for a ride and picked up his keys that afternoon.
