Anyone know any tasks outside the 'usuals' that may be fun or interesting to run on the CJIS terminals? Any good ways of bringing up a little more dirt on someone when you know an officer is digging for an arrest?
A lot of interesting things in the NEWS files.......

I knew about QHot, and you can actualy do QHOT1-9 to get the list from that many days prior, so QHOT3 will give you the list from 3 days ago.
I'll have to run the suspension list.

I have printed out the warrant list through excell. First I sort by Town of residence, and delete any non in-towners, then I re-sort by last name. Then I delete everything except name, addres, dob, date of issue, warrant type, and the MGL from the first warrant, everything else I delete. Print one coppy on the slooooow leaps printer, then make a bunch of coppies, the officers love them

How do you print the warrants in excell, I always forget?
Go to Excel
File>Open
Change file type to "all"
Pick the newest file. They're created every few weeks.
Click Open
Click "finish" on the dialogue for converting the file that opens up
There you go!

First I delete the unwanted fields, like race, sex, etc. To do THAT, right-click on the letter above that field, and click delete. Do not press DELETE on the keybard, that will only clear the entries in the fields, but leave that row remaining. You can click multiple cell rows by lelf-clicking and dragging into other cells, or holding the Ctrl button while you click.
Then, I sort by City of Residence. To sort by a field, click on the top most Cell of the field, then do Ctrl+A, which will hilight ALL fields. Then on the toolbar, you should see an icong with an A and a Z, and an arrow pointing down. That will sort A to Z. Then scroll down to the start of your community. Cliek the NUMBER of the row just ABOVE your town, and drag upwards to hilight all the rows above your town. Then, on the left numbered list of rows, right-click then delete. Repeat for all the rows below your community.
Then, I sort by Last name again. I click the top-left cell, which is a name, Ctrl+A, then that A-Z icon again.
Lastly, I delete the row that displays the city of residence, since they should all be the city you're working for, and is unnecessary now.
To automaticaly resize a row, so that it is JUST wide enough to display all the contents of the longest name, or whatever, double-click the seperation on the top list of rows (lettered a-z) that seperates that row from the row to it's right.

Make sure, when you delete all the other towns, you sort and delete the town of RESICENCE, not the town the warrant was issued for.
I only leave Name, DOB, Address, Date of warrant issue (the 94's are less likely to be at that address than the 2005's), and the first charge of the warrant (displayed as Chapter/Section), so they know if they're dealing with "failure to appear for jury duty" or "attempted murder". If one nitwit has like 5 warrants, or i see something nasty that will really be worth picking up, I'll do an r-8 and find out what he may be driving, as well as anyone else in the household (this is where a census-based master directory of your community is useful, see who's living where)

Any q's send me a PM... I might make up a small PDF with pics describing the process next time I'm working.....

WMS7 is always a pretty good one as well, you can print up your departments warrant activity by date. It's quicker and much more user freindly than the warrant extract file, unfortunately you get the warrants issued by your dept. not just the warrants for city/town residents.

Is that on-screen or instantly to the printer? I really hate having to yank the power cable on the cjis terminal to stop that gawd-awful printer

Hey, does anyone know how to back out of a BOP entry back to the person selection list, or back to the BOP query entry w/out having to do an F5, then BOP, then enter password / username??

Also, any way to access the RMV Web on a normal computer, so it is possible to print pictures to an inkjet?

One more. Is there any settings in the printer-settings when printing things through Excell or RMVWeb that keep the printer on the same super high speed setting it should be at for regular CJIS stuff? (Top-left light on both speed / pitch)

You can also export the excel warrant files onto a floppy disk. Select "file" then "save as" (the batch date will enter into the file name) then at the start of the batch date, put in A:\ and it will save to the floppy disk (as long as you put one in) exampt: A:\110605

It's easier to manipulate the file on another excel enabled computer, and then you can print it on regular paper instead of the tractor paper
