This is from an aqauntance of mine, shes a 2nd year student at SSC, got busted for alcohol last night in her dorm room.

I got caught.
S*** like this just doen't happen to me.

I'm not use to getting caught.
Campus police and an RA busted into our apartment last night.
There were a ton of people here but no one was being loud, our music was reasonable. We were being good.
But people just kept knocking on the door and coming in, one after the other.
So when we heard another knock we thought nothing of it.
"Elizabeth" looked through the peephole...something we all do automatically, just in case.
The hole was being covered by a hand and when we asked who it was, there was no response.
We thought it was "Ryan" or one of the other guys fucking around, so "Elizabeth" cracked the door open just enough.
F***. "Open the goddamn door" was all we heard before he pushed it open and "Camille" grabbed the open handle from the counter and started to run towards the bathroom.
"Young lady get BACK here!" The d*** was f***ing screaming at her over and over and so she came back.
She said she was sorry and just trying to help.
He looked at the handle and "Nancy" handed it to him. He asked if there was anymore. Nope.
He raided our fridge and dumped the rest of the handle down the drain. We wrote our names down.
"Camille" made one up, but she doesn't live here so I'm sure she didn't care.
He made 'everyone who doesn't live here get out' and so they did.
He f***ed up big time though. He covered the hole, didn't announce who he was, screamed at us and accused us of lying. He didn't arrest us because of that. So now it's all in the RA's hands.
She can either turn us in or not.
One of the guys, "Steve", knows her and told us not to worry about it. That everything would be okay.
I'm hoping he's right. If they send a letter home, I'm royally f***ed.
So now we're just waiting to see what happens. I guess we should know by 2 or 3 this afternoon whether we'll have a strike against us. If so, AA meetings will need to be attened by the girl who just started f***ing drinking this summer. I don't see how that works.
If not, we're just going to have to take this as a huge f***ing scare and learn from it.
I should add that names have been changed by me. Also "Elizabeth" (The one that provided false info) does live in Salem State dorms.

I think I have to side with the PO + RA, I know there is a law out there that state something to the effect of "A school principal has the right to search / seize to make a safe enviroment" (or something along those lines) but would it apply here? being it is a state school, one would think that the same idea would apply here, wouldn't they?

Re: Friend Busted for Alch at Salem State

Edited: Sorry... didn't read the entire post before responding.

Am I correct in assuming that some of the parties were underage? Then didn't they get off rather lucky with no one being arrested/cited? So what are your freinds complaining about? That the campus officer emptyed the beer down the drain?

Well, I wouldn't say they got off. I don't work for Salem State so I can't say for sure, but I am pretty confident they are going to face some sort of disciplinary action thru the college. If you look at the SSC webpage on Alch. and Drugs it spells out the severe penalties for posession of Alch.

As an aside, where do people come up with these strange ideas about police procedure? Like sticking your thumb over the peep is going to make the fact that they were in violation just go away... "But your Honor/Dean, he had his thumb over the peeo-hole!"

I don't believe her. Being a senior in college and a summer police officer for four years and a campus dispatcher, I get these kind of questions all the time. Oddly they all sing the same tune:

1. "Campus police and an RA busted into our apartment last night." Please inform her 'busted' involves a battering ram not knocking.

2. "There were a ton of people here but no one was being loud, our music was reasonable" Right...reasonable to an intoxicated person, usually isn't reasonable to everyone else...and they most likely were being loud.

3. "Open the goddamn door" (Anonymous Police Officer) All I have to say about that is...well... I highly doubt it!

4."Young lady get BACK here!" The d*** was f***ing screaming at her over and over and so she came back. She said she was sorry and just trying to help." Help who? and help by doing what?....dumping the handle down the toilet. It's not cocaine...I think this girl has seen to many movies or watched too much COPS...it isn't as if the officer didn't already know what was going on at a college party. At least I hope he knew!

5.He raided our fridge and dumped the rest of the handle down the drain. We wrote our names down. "Camille" made one up, but she doesn't live here so I'm sure she didn't care." He 'raided' her fridge...I refer you back to #1 because I don't think it involved a Ninja Squad.

6. "He made 'everyone who doesn't live here get out' and so they did."  Oh my gosh...what a meanie pants!

7. "He f***ed up big time though. He covered the hole, didn't announce who he was, screamed at us and accused us of lying. He didn't arrest us because of that." Ummm or he gave you a break. :D

Take responsibility for your actions, learn from it and move on.! Either way she was wrong. I hope that helps in your answer.

It's probably not the same, but I go to BSC and a few friends of mine and I got busted 2 years ago for alcohol. It wasn't by the cops, it was by RA's. Our alcohol policy on campus is pretty much 2 strikes and you're out. We are on alcoholic probation until we graduate, so if we get in trouble w/ it again, we're out of the dorms. For discipline, we had to do a CD-ROM called "Alcohol 101". That was pretty much it. No police action, and we were all underage.

Good Job SSC Police ....

ExplSgt971,

Your friend sounds like a typical college brat who is crying sour grapes because she got caught. Total nitwit.

This scenario reminds me of a place I retired from recently......

Typical drama queen. Comfort her by reminding her she will be home for winter break soon. When she gets home, she can tell daddy how the Campus Police had no right to do what they did, and then daddy can place a call to the school and let the administration know that his kids are perfect and they don’t deserve this harassment.

I laugh at the "little rich kids" who think that they can get away with whatever they want. First off, when they sign the forms for housing, they are agreeing to abide by the College's rules and also the laws of the Commonwealth. Just because it's behind closed doors, doesn't make it alright. Also, RA's have JAC - Joint Access and Control for all of the rooms that they oversee, so technically, they could have just "keyed in" to the room without waiting for someone in the room to let them in. Sounds to me like the PO could have been a total "Ball Buster" but wasn't. Take the punishment from the school and be thankful that you aren't going to Salem District Cour to answer a charge for being a minor in posession..............and be a little smarter about the way you party.

Let me just add in, I wasn't there, nor had I the inclination to be there.
Good!

ExplSgt? As in a Police or Fire Explorer? I suppose then you want to work in public safety in the future? If so, my unsolicited recommendation for you would be to watch out who you are associating yourself with. The last thing you want is to be at the wrong place at the wrong time... if you get arrested your chances of a job in law enforcement dwindle.

Police (errr now Law Enforcement) Explorer. No arrests, no tickets, clean record, in college for CJ, missed the last civil service test by 2 weeks from the cut off date.

I've only associated with this girl on 2 or 3 occaisions, one a senior prom about 2 years ago, and this past halloween in Salem, and only for a few minutes then.

Her story portrays about 85% of any Campus PO's job on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night after 11pm. Its always good to have a RA thats willing to "barge" into the room.

ExplSgt? As in a Police or Fire Explorer?
Fire Departments dont have sargents. I used to be the fd explorer chief, exp ran the police explorers with another explorer officer. Those were the days when the fire muster came to EP and we ruled that park.......

Or the times we went on random "drills" with the pete or papa ron to Misery. And as always the pins were nice.

Oh those were the days............I went from that.........to small coffee sweet& low with milk. :x

I can honestly say though, 971-----is one of the most stable and law abideing people I know.
