A Framingham man is being held without bail following his arrest Saturday on carjacking charges.
Jonathan Gonzalez, 23, stole a car at knifepoint from an employee at Oak Knoll Health Care Center on Arbetter Drive, police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany said.
The victim, a 34-year-old man, said he left work shortly before 2 a.m. and discovered a man, later identified as Gonzalez, standing next to his Ford Contour with the door open.
"(The victim) asked Gonzalez what he was doing, and Gonzalez made idle talk about a party," said Shastany. "When (the victim) approached Gonzalez, (Gonzalez) pretended he knew him, or he was lost."
Gonzalez pulled a knife and demanded the car keys and money. The victim gave him the keys and $2.
Gonzalez drove off with the car and was arrested a few minutes later on Water Street, heading toward Saxonville.
When police searched the car, they found a knife and $2 beneath the driver's seat, Shastany said.
Gonzalez, of 12 Kings Row, was charged with carjacking, larceny of a vehicle, assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious mischief causing more than $250 worth of damage.
Gonzalez was ordered held without bail at his Framingham District Court arraignment yesterday. He is to be held until at least Thursday for a hearing to determine if he is a danger to the public.
