BOSTON -

A 29-year-old Pembroke resident who worked for the federal courts has admitted dealing Oxycontin pills.
Christopher Cook, a former Court of Appeals employee and unsuccessful applicant to the Boston Police Department, faces 20 years in prison and $1 million in fines when he is sentenced on Feb. 18.
The evidence against him included audio and video recordings showing him selling 200 Oxycontin pills to a cooperating witness in January.
Cook also admitted that he tried to steal what he thought were 1,200 Oxycontin pills, from a drug source.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Boston Police
Department's Anti-Corruption Unit and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Ex-federal courts employee guilty of drug charges

BOSTON - A former federal courts employee in Boston has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for selling OxyContin to an undercover informant.
Christopher Cook of Pembroke was also sentenced on Wednesday to three years of probation upon his release, and ordered too pay a $15,000 fine.
Federal prosecutors say the 29-year-old Cook, a former clerk with the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and applicant to the Boston Police Department, sold 200 pills to a cooperating witness in January 2008. Authorities say they had video and audio tapes of the transaction.
Authorities also say Cook attempted to steal what he thought were 1,200 OxyContin pills from a drug source with the intention of distributing those pills.

Respect drugs like they are a loaded gun. It sounds silly but from handling that stuff everyday, I know that one shot of that can be a career ending and potentially life ending move.
