PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. - A police officer accused of bringing targets resembling Trayvon Martin to a gun range has been fired.
Port Canaveral Interim Chief Executive Officer John Walsh told WFTV
on Saturday that Sgt. Ron King was leading a target practice with two other Port Canaveral police officers and a civilian port employee when he pulled out the targets April 4. Walsh says King asked the group if they wanted to use the targets and they said no, telling King to put them back into his patrol car.

I'd reserve judgement until I actually saw a pic of the so called target "resembling" Trayvon. If it is identicle then perhaps a stern reprimand would have been in order for poor taste/judgement, but not a firing. If not identicle, move along.....

I saw the targets online; it's just a hooded sweatshirt holding a bag of Skittles and an Arizona iced tea. Unfortunately this officer tested the waters of his superiors political correctness.

That's just plain dumb.
Couldn't a Q target have sufficed just as well?

I'm surprised he didn't whip out 20 child sized targets too.
This is the actual target, that was considered an "accurate" depiction of Treyvon:

After the "if I had a son speech" perhaps it looked like this:

Dumb move? Absolutely. Fired? Too harsh IMO.
Harsh or not, we would be fired for something like this too. Not for doing it mind you, but for getting it in to the media.

In any case, it's in bad taste regardless of what anyone thinks about the case of the Martin shooting.

He had to have guessed that someone would dime him out. I'm sure his bosses don't want the likes of Sharpton or the other Dildo, Jackson parading outside of the PD and all that mess. Not well thought through. Not at all.

I guesss its bad to bring a target of someone that tried to kill someone to the range...if it was Bush or Glenn Beck or anything remotely Conservative this wouldnt even be discussed.
