ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. --
The Florida Highway Patrol was investigating a crash in Orange County involving a deputy.
The deputy and his K-9 were responding to a call when they were involved in a crash with two other cars.
Police said the front of the deputy's SUV was smashed in and burned. The deputy and dog were trapped in the SUV when it caught fire, but several good Samaritans worked to get them out.
"I heard a collision from the parking lot and there was a gentleman trying to help the officer out of the car. There were flames coming out of the hood and I grabbed a fire extinguisher and put the fire out while he was trying to get the officer out," said security guard Bill McCraney.
Both the deputy and the dog got out safely. The four other people involved in the crash were taken to the hospital to be checked out, and were all expected to be okay.
