FITCHBURG -- Police arrested two men in connection with the alleged Sunday morning kidnapping and sexual assault of a Fitchburg woman, according to Fitchburg Police Capt. Charles Tasca.
Keith O. Rahaim, 44, of 21 Davis Road, Westminster, is charged with kidnapping, indecent assault and battery on a person older than 14, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Thomas P. Mallett, 36, of 773 Wanning Road, Freedom, Maine, is charged with kidnapping.
A 41-year-old Fitchburg woman went to Partner's Pub on South Street with a friend around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Tasca said.
The alleged victim started up a conversation with Rahaim, and mentioned she has experience selling cars, Tasca said.
"He then asked her if she could take a look at his Cadillac, which he wanted to sell," Tasca said.
The woman followed Rahaim out to the parking lot where she found Mallett siting behind the wheel of the car, Tasca said.
Rahaim shoved the woman into the car and Mallett drove away, leaving the city, according to Tasca.
The woman repeatedly begged to be let out of the car, Tasca said. Rahaim allegedly continued to keep her in the car against her will for over an hour, Tasca said.
"At some point, she was indecently assaulted," Tasca said.
The car then returned to the south section of Fitchburg, where the car pulled over and Rahaim kicked the woman out of the car and onto the ground, according to Tasca. Police tracked Rahaim and Mallett to Rahaim's Westminster home around 4:30 a.m. and arrested them there without incident, according to Tasca.
Fitchburg District Court Judge Andrew Mandell ordered Rahaim and Mallett held on $5,000 cash bail each. Both men are next due in court Sept. 4.
