You might not be getting any replies because you asked this question in the Mt. Ida thread.

Let me see if I can help... What kind of background do you have? How old are you? College Education? What are your career goals?

Feel free to PM me...

They don't have powers because they are not a police agency. They are contract security who have their own uniforms and cruiser designs distinctive from the company that signs their checks. The Mt. Ida police disbanded years ago. Chances are, the administation is responsible for the current situation. I have a few friends who work there. I'm sure it is not the worst place to work, but you will not get experience doing arrests or in depth "police work", because Newton PD handles most of that aspect of it. You will get experience dealing with drunk, disrespectful students and be exposed to plenty that will come in useful in your career. As with most small schools or towns, it could make you or break you. If you know your role and function and don't over step your bounds, you would probably be fine.
