NORWALK, Conn. (AP) - A former Norwalk police officer has been convicted of groping a woman during a traffic stop two years ago.
A Superior Court jury convicted Ray DeCamillo on Tuesday of fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree unlawful restraint.
He will be sentenced Dec. 12 and faces a maximum of 2 years in prison.
The woman, now 23, testified DeCamillo pulled over her car on July 5, 2006, and coerced her into a dark parking lot.
She said he leaned into the vehicle to grab her breast and touch her belly-button ring, suggesting it would help her avoid a ticket for using her cell phone behind the wheel.
DeCamillo was fired after an investigation into the allegations.
DeCamillo and his lawyer, William Pelletreau, declined to comment after Tuesday's verdict.
