If you live in a Civil Service community veterans status will give you a serious advantage, but I don't think it should be one's sole motivation for going into the service. In wartime military service is a bigger commitment than normal (look at the news regarding extended deployments of reserve units and reactivation of personnel on IIR status). If you want to serve your country go into the service, but if you only are truly interested in becoming a police officer finish school, get a BA (maybe a MA too) and self-sponsor yourself through the MPOC you will be highly marketable to non-civil service communities.

It feels to me this forum is no place for people to be sarcastic. Maybe you need to look at the reason why you feel it appropriate to do so.

Umm Last time i looked this is the just shooting the breeze section of the forum. Which means we can be as sarcastic as we all wanna be. And Jon is right. Learn how to use that college experience and ask questions with proper grammar.

Hey brother, if you can't take it in here, you sure won't be able to take it out there.

Thank you to all who offered useful & helpful advice. JoninNH needs to offer his advice to Reno and SPAD, r/t speak in sentences, proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. EOD1, I did a search and I did not find the topic you mentioned. Do you have any further information? Again, thanks to all.
