Fall River -
A 19-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed two other men on Jackson Street Wednesday night.
Chad Sullivan of 129 Baker St. is charged with two counts each of armed assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count each of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Mauretti said that when officers responded to a stabbing about 10:15 p.m., they were told the assailant fled the scene and two victims entered a Jackson Street home.
Police found a 24-year-old man of Fall River with 10 stab wounds to his chest, abdomen and back. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. The other victim, 34, also of Fall River, was taken to a local hospital with a stab wound to the back of his neck. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Mauretti said.
After Sullivan was identified as the alleged assailant, police went to his home where he "answered the door, armed with a baseball bat," Mauretti said.
Sullivan allegedly punched Officer Matthew Mendes before being taken into custody after a brief scuffle, Mauretti said.
Police found a blood-stained folding pocketknife inside the suspect's apartment.
Mauretti said a fight among the three men broke out in the street, where the stabbing occurred, after Sullivan was asked to leave a house party.
"He was getting too loud and out of control ... and there was a 1-year-old sleeping in the bedroom," Mauretti said.
