GREECE, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York man faces up to five years in prison and quarter-million dollar fine after he admitted that he passed himself off as a federal agent to retrieve fireworks he shipped to Greater Rochester International Airport.
Thirty-7-year-old Jack Brown of Greece pleaded guilty Friday to impersonating a federal agent.
Brown admitted he falsely claimed he was a Federal Aviation Administration inspector to take 58 pounds of fireworks that were seized in June 2007 when a box broke apart after it was shipped by a FedEx cargo plane to the airport from New Hampshire.
FedEx notified the FAA and the intended recipient, Brown's wife, that the shipment was being held pending an investigation.
Brown, however, went to the FedEx facility, presented credentials identifying himself as an FAA inspector, and took the package.
