A 21-year-old Stow, Ohio man was arrested Tuesday after he posed as a Summit County sheriff's deputy and carried a handgun into three Manchester school buildings Monday.
Ryan A. Worlow was charged with impersonating a peace officer, illegal possession of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone and criminal trespass.
New Franklin police said Worlow was dressed as a deputy and carried a Glock 22 40 when he visited with students and personnel at the schools, which were back in session Monday.
More law enforcement-related items were recovered in a search of Worlow's home in Stow, police said.

A school staff member became suspicious of Worlow and contacted the New Franklin Police Department. Calls made to surrounding city, county and state police agencies determined that Worlow was not a peace officer in the state of Ohio.

Upon being arrested, Worlow was found to be carrying a Glock model 22, 40 caliber handgun. The cartridge of the gun was loaded with bullets. Worlow was also in possession of two pairs of handcuffs, a real sheriff's deputy uniform, name tag and badge.

Worlow is being charged with impersonating a peace officer; a felony of the third degree, illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone; a felony of the fifth degree, and for criminal trespassing.

A search of his residence was conducted and items of evidence were recovered, some additional guns were also taken from his home.

According to Manchester School Superintendent Samuel Reynolds, Worlow is an alumnus of the school district. He Graduated in 2006 from Manchester High School.

Reynolds says safety procedures are being reviewed so something like this will not happen again.

Unreal.

The true question here is...WHY?? What was his motive?

Folks, we can roll our eyes at situations like this and attribute it to some whacker who wishes he could get a decent job, but the reality is that someone like this could have been testing the schools' reponses to an armed outsider who was dressed like a legitimate law enforcement official.

He evidently made successful "visits" (wonder what is meant by that) to more than one school before someone got suspicious...

If I remeber correctly didn't the hostage takers at the Beslan School massacre show up days before and cut down all the trees before the actual "attack"? It's amazing to think that people watched them do this and it didn't raise any flags.
