I know this isn't law enforcement related, but I know many of you are EMT's as well, so I will post here. While perusing the MASS OEMS website today, I discovered (much to my dismay) that the fee for recertification went up to $150 :!: :!: :!: That is up from $75 just two years ago. Getting bent over by the state yet once again. :hump: Here is the link if anyone else wants to see:

I was going to whine about that too... I actually sent my application in last month with the recert form from their website, which still says $75.00. I got a nasty letter back with my check stating you are no longer supposed to use the form on their website. Why even put it online then? ](*,)

I thought public hearings were required to raise things like the EMT recert fee...?

Good old Mass with it's outrages ideas. I know most of you may not know this, but there is a group out there fighting mainly for EMS personnel, but for those of you who are EMT's as well. MEMSPAG (MA EMS Providers Advocacy Group) is trying to improve some of the EMS related issues including the recertification costs. Tell everyone you know about it, the more people on board the better an attempt to change things. You can visit them at http://www.memspag.org/.

If these folks are pushing for changes in OEMS, count me IN!!!!!

Interesting note: The OEMS homepage has a message stating an address change as of 11/18. My recert application/credit listing, which just arrived (even though they always say they will be sent in early October), is dated 11/22 and includes the old address for the return.

WHAT INCOMPETENT DOPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I checked out the site for memspag. Are they still active? looks like the site hasn't been updated since August.

Just for a bit of comparision to MA, in Texas the cert. fee is $50 for an EMT basic and if the EMT is a volunteer the fee is waived entirely.

I spoke to a friend of mine who is involved with memspag and he tells me that due to the holidays, there hasn't been a meeting a some time. And due to a conputer problem, he has not been able to update the website. Do contact him if you are interested. It may take him a few day to get back to you, but her will.
