Groups of youths causing nuisance at local businesses

EAST BRIDGEWATER -
Police will work with local business owners and school officials to crack down on loitering and vandalism by local youths.
According to Detective Sgt. Scott Allen, youths 12 to 16 years old are loitering and causing problems in areas along Route 18, such as the Central Elementary School, Viking Pizza, the movie theater and Cumberland Farms.
Allen said spray-painted graffiti and damage to picnic tables are among the recent incidents at the elementary school playground.
Allen said he has been contacted by parents who do not want to take their children to the school playground because youths are "harassing younger kids and using foul language."
Already, six juveniles are being summonsed for trespassing at the school, and no trespassing sings have been posted.
Allen said that recently a group of youths was removed from the movie theater for poor behavior and that Viking Pizza has called police "dozens of times" to report that youths are hanging around the establishment, making customers feel uncomfortable.
Allen said that when youths are removed from one area, they just move to another.
"We've tried to talk to the kids so many times," said Allen.
Patrols in the area have been increased, and Allen said there will be "zero tolerance" for the problems that have been occurring.
Allen said that the problems are similar to the vandalism that caused the closure of the Skylur J. Spagone Memorial Skate Park last May.
The skate park had numerous problems with graffiti, littering, loitering, and damage to the fences and benches.
Within the next week, Allen plans to meet with business owners to gather input, and is encouraging parents to help as well.

I would like to suggest that the DetSgt. Scottie needs to get permission from the Chief to authorize couple hours OT for "Bouncing Bill" to come in around 2:00 pm and start getting on the little bastards. Certainly Scottie has better things to do like working with the WEB task force!
