RAYNHAM -

A raid six months in the making netted 10 arrests Thursday, when members of the Northern Bristol County Drug Task Force, armed with warrants for known drug offenders, swept through Raynham and Taunton.
Officers set out at noon and were still searching for people by 10 p.m., showing up at homes, workplaces and sites drug offenders have been known to frequent, Raynham Police Detective Sgt. Dave Bonaparte said.
The round-up was conducted as part of Operation Blizzard, an ongoing effort to stamp out area drug activity.
"Other arrests are expected, other people will be charged," Bonaparte said.
The task force started the day with 10 warrants, but will likely apply for more, he said. Because the operation is ongoing, Bonaparte would not discuss details on the circumstances of the arrests, but said the operation is similar to a recent one in Attleboro that resulted in 16 people facing drug charges.
Taunton police made several arrests as a result of the raid, showing up at 3 Church Ave. in search of Leo Boutiette. Detectives were met at the door of the second-floor apartment by Jamie O'Mally, Taunton Police Detective Sgt. Michael Grundy said.
In addition to detecting an odor of marijuana, police say they spotted a large plastic container filled with the drug.
Two bags, one filled with a total of 23 one-ounce bags of marijuana were also seized, as well as two shotguns belonging from a third-floor apartment, police say.
Boutiette, 20, and his father, Leo Boutiette III, were arrested at work in Raynham, while O'Mally and Kristine Hannaford, who was also in the apartment, were charged at the scene. A warrant for an 18-year-old man is being sought in connection with the shotguns, Grundy said, adding that the Church Avenue house is known to police.
"We've had citizens' complaints concerning drug activity in that area," Grundy said.
