Drivers clocking Boston meter maids

It's open season on beleaguered Hub meter maids, according to a Herald review that found nearly two dozen of them have come under attack since 2011 by fuming motorists who have cursed, spat at, punched and even rammed defenseless parking enforcers with their cars.
"Folks go from (using) cups of coffee to multi-ton vehicles to go after officers who are just doing their job," said city transportation chief Thomas Tinlin, referring to the infamous 2005 Hummer driver, dubbed the "Java Jerk," who tossed a cup of hot coffee into a meter maid's face. "It staggers the mind."

I'm not at all surprised.

For some odd reason, the entitled often lose their heads when they observe you sticking a parking ticket on their vehicles. I've had to adjust many by advising them they were about to go away in cuffs as my badge doesn't say meter maid. Oddly, i've never had the same response while handing them a $3-500 V on the side of the road...it's mind boggling.

God bless these ladies.
Do Boston Municipal Court judges say that it's "part of the job" like they do for cops.

Exactly.....there's absolutely, positively no basis in argument for arguing a parking ticket. "There's the no parking sign, and here is your car parked underneath it". What could your argument possibly be? It's not like "The light was yellow", or "I couldn't have been going that fast".

However, just about every time someone comes across me writing them a parking ticket, a vicious argument ensues, with their inevitable defense being "I was just here a few minutes".

So, it's okay for you, and YOU ONLY to block traffic, create a navigational hazard, or take a handicap space from someone legitimately handicapped? You're seriously that special?

I really wish parking citations had corporal punishment attached, because they equal the height of arrogance and ignorance.
Couple of years back I talked with a guy in a wheel chair blocking an illegally parked car at Burlington Mall. Car was in a HP spot with no placard or plate. I knew full well there was going to be a problem.
I got one the beginning of last month in Boston at 7 PM on 11/1/12 for an expired inspection sticker that had lapsed 19 hours before.

I paid my $40 reminder and went on with my life. For some people, such an injustice would be just too much.

What? If your fucking car isn't moving, how are you getting cited? One more reason why I rarely venture into Boston.

they have guys driving around Southie at night putting tickets on anything that is 2 inches over a crosswalk !
towing cars for street cleaning
tagging for being in a bus stop even if the busses aren't using that route
too close to a hydrant ( 4 feet away is apparently not enough )
friends, family, rental car, etc. no resident sticker ?............ ticket !

parking in Boston is a nightmare and the city knows it. they get crazy revenue from the misery that is driving in the city.

personally have never gone at it with the meter maids, but they ain't the most pleasant people either.

There are plenty of meter maids (mostly in NYC) that deserve whatever ridicule is sent their way.

And it is counted as a surchargeable incident. At least it was as of a few years ago.

It still is for a moving violation, but not a parking ticket

Swear them in as specials, put a glock on their hip and some shiny bracelets on a belt. Hell even give them batons and o.c. a parking ticket is a parking ticket. The sign say two hours. You're over two. Heres a minuscule fucking fine and be on your way. No parking means no parking. Didn't see the sign? You're not fit to be a driver on the streets. Take a bus. It's that simple. These maids take a bunch of shit from people who belong either six feet under or behind the clink. It's time maids, with cops as front runners step up and show these abusive pricks where they belong.
I disagree with you 'Blue on the signage issue-some posts have three or four on them and you'd have to be a Mensa member or NSA Code Breaker to decypher them. I will say, though, simple reading skills go a long way in most cases, so does common sense on both sides of the ticket book.
Johnny Law is on to something-Boston wants to keep the "Best Walking City" in America title and will continue to F up traffic and parking.

I'll go along with that. There are definitely some signs difficult to find or read. I was referring to the blatantly obvious ones like (bus stop no parking) or just downright dumbass places people choose to park. My favorite is the triple parked moron who leaves their child in a carseat with engine running as she goes in for booze and cigs.
Pet Peeve: Bus top Fine $100
BUT what's the fine for a bus that blocks traffic by only "leaning into the bus stop?

The people who argue about parking tickets are the same people that have EXP/NONR show up on their R3. $100......and ohh yah, have fun picking your car up at the impound lot after you take care of the tickets you neglected to pay.
