Driver veers off highway into marsh
PEABODY, Mass. -- A woman's car went off the highway Wednesday into a swampy area on the side of the road.
A passing motorist called police when she saw the woman's car veer off Route 128 near exit 25B, go down an embankment, and then disappear.
When State Police arrived the caller directed them to the scene. Rescue crews had to get through the swampy area to assist the woman.
The woman was transported to Beverly Hospital with minor injuries.
"She was a good 100, 130 feet off the highway, it was a muddy sloppy area," said Capt. Joe Daly, of the Peabody Fire Department.
Police said the exit where the accident happened is very dangerous; already this year, there have been four accidents.
