LEXINGTON (WBZ) ― A driver was killed in a crash that tied up traffic on Route 128 for miles during rush hour Tuesday morning.
It happened on 128 north in Lexington near Route 2A just after 6 a.m.
State Police say two vehicles collided and one of them rolled over several times before landing in the grass near the breakdown lane. That driver was ejected and died. The other driver was not seriously hurt.
It's not clear yet what caused the crash. The victim's name has not been released.
State Police shut down two northbound lanes after the accident, which backed up traffic for several miles.
WBZ's Rich Kirkland said southbound traffic was backed up 15 miles as curious drivers looked at the crash scene.
