8 miles in a row or 8 miles total? If you mean total then yes you run well over 8 miles. If you want to get through the academy just start running now. Set a goal and once you hit that goal, run past it. Keep building up cardio as much as possible.
Honestly it is way worse than what you think and what you will prepare for. Just run run run as much as you can, and then when you are done run some more. Also do a shit ton of push-ups, burpees, flutter kicks and situps
Wow it’s that bad ?
You think that’s “bad?”

We ran 10 miles, uphill each way, did jumping jacks for hours, belly slides in the hallways, all while being required to wear a hat.

Give it a few more years. With recruiting numbers down and academies constantly under investigation, pretty soon PT will be optional.

Are you talking about PT for BPD? If so then no, you don’t run 8 miles a day. Your graduation run is the longest run of the year but calling it a “run” is a stretch, basically a light jog at a 10/min mile pace.

That being said just cause you don’t run 8 miles a day doesn’t mean it’s easy.. far from it.
Thank GOD I'm closing in fast on retirement and NOT just starting out.

I don't WALK 8 miles a MONTH!

I joined a dog walking club with the new pup to help with socialization. Our first walk was 2 miles at a winery followed by a wine tasting. I'm not one to brag, but my fitness app told me I was crushing it during the wine tasting part.
