DEPUTY SHERIFF State of Rhode Island Department of Administration Deputy Sheriff II $30,884 - $34,548 Provides judicial security for an assigned judge, usually within the courthouse but occassionally beyond for security purposes; to maintain an effective court security program; provides for effective inmate/prisoner management, including the transport of prisoners and inmates to and from District Court, Family Court, Superior Court, and/or state facilities, hospitals and/or prisons, jails and/or cellblocks; executes Writs of Process, both civil and criminal, summons witnesses to appear in court; does related work as required. Qualifications must include an Associated Degree in Law enforcement or criminal justice from a college of recognized standing and successful completion of training for or employment as a correcational officer, military police officer, or law enforcement officer or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified candidates will participate in the Deputy Sheriff Training Program/ Academy. Graduates of this academy will be eligible for appointment.
