Deputy Allegedly Swaps Shotgun For Methadone
A South Carolina deputy who authorities say traded his duty shotgun for about 12 methadone pills is expected in court.A bond hearing is scheduled Monday for 26-year-old Erick Flowers. Flowers is charged with misconduct in office.
Flowers' father, David, told The Associated Press by phone Monday that he didn't think his son had a drug problem. He said his son lives at his home and called Friday to say he would be fired from his job at the Marlboro County Sheriff's Department.
The family has not yet hired an attorney.
Attempts to contact a sheriff's department spokesman were unsuccessful Monday. His voicemail indicated it couldn't receive additional messages.
