The Department of State is seeking police officers of any rank who are eager to accept a challenging and rigorous assignment to serve for one year with the United States Mission as a International Police Trainer in Afghanistan.

US Citizen
Applicant must have a combined total of eight (8) years work experience with at least five (5) years being at the position of sworn civilian law enforcement.
Actively serving sworn law enforcement officer, or recently separated sworn law enforcement official (within 5 years but 3 years is prefered).
U.S. Border Patrol agents, who have training experience, meeting minimum requirements may also qualify.
Ability to communicate in English.
Valid US driver's license and ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle.
Unblemished background.
Excellent health and be able to pass a law enforcement physical and a physical agility test.
Valid U.S. passport will be required.
Must be able to qualify with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
Training experience at an academy level or agency in service program.
Compensation and Benefits

Afghanistan is a one-year contract. Compensation for the year is approximately $78,294.00 plus free room and board. Medical benefits are provided for the employee. Benefits are not provided for the dependents. DynCorp International FZ-DIFZ provides all uniform and equipment needs. Transportation to the country, and a return flight upon successful completion of the one-year contract is provided. Local transportation in the country is also available. Eighteen days of paid vacation are accrued over the course of the assignment. Mission assignments vary and are made in country based on mission needs and the officer?s qualifications.

General Payroll Information:
Salary is paid every four weeks.
No federal income or social security taxes are withheld.
If you remain out of the US for 330 of 365 consecutive days, you are eligible for U.S. federal tax exemption on your entire compensation package.
Travel days to the US are counted toward the number of days spent in the US.
The mission subsistence allowance is paid in country.
Working hours - 12 hour days, 6 days a week.
Employees accrue vacation days at the rate of 1.5 days per month, or 18 days per year. This is subject to change.

Following an in-country orientation, officers will be housed by DynCorp.

Medical Benefits
Medical and emergency treatment needs are provided for in the contract. Benefits for dependents are not provided.

DIFZ provides all uniform and equipment needs.

Disability Coverage
Coverage begins on your first day of work. DIFZ pays the full cost of this coverage. If you are away from work due to illness or injury, you may receive up to 75% of your pay up to the plan's maximum benefit of 102 weeks.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
As an eligible employee, your accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage begins on your first day of work. Maximum annual benefit is $160,000. DIFZ pays the full cost of this coverage.

DIFZ will reimburse each employed applicant for expenses incurred in obtaining medical examinations (up to $100), the cost to expedite your passport (not the basic passport cost), and postage/Fed-Ex delivery charges. Receipts must be provided.

Policing in Emerging Democracies
At the present time, many American Police Officers are serving in Kosovo, E. Timor, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Liberia.

Benefits of Participation
This mission provides American police officers the opportunity to operate in a foreign culture and to be exposed to unique policing problems, as they daily confront cultural and ethnical issues. Although the agency will lose the officer for a short period of time, the skills acquired and refined overseas will compliment what the officer has already learned in America.
