Danvers police make arrest in stabbing
By Bruno Matarazzo Jr.
Staff writer

DANVERS - Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred last night on North Putnam Street.
The male victim, a Danvers resident whom police did not identify, was driven to Beverly Hospital by an acquaintance and is being treated, police said.
Police arrested Justin Travis, 22, of 22 North St., Danvers, around 10 p.m., shortly after police received a report of the stabbing. Police charged Travis with attempted murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to police Lt. Carole Germano.
"It's really early in the investigation," Germano said, adding that she was not sure of Travis' relationship with the victim, but did not consider the stabbing to be a random act.
Patrolman Kevin Wood caught Travis on Maple Street by Poplar Street, Germano said. Travis was in the police station lockup last night, and he will be arraigned at Salem District Court today.
Police and a detective went to Beverly Hospital last night to interview the victim. No other information was available last night.
