FRAMINGHAM -
A man and a woman face charges of attacking police and resisting arrest after nine officers answered a call about a fight between the couple at the Portuguese Club Saturday night.
Two officers went to the parking lot of the Portuguese Club on South Street about 9 p.m., where a witness told them a man arguing with his girlfriend had picked her up by her jacket and dropped her against a parked car, police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany said.
Police tried to question Juan M. Collazo of Milford about the incident, but his girlfriend, Wined Gonzalez, approached the two officers from behind and insisted that nothing was wrong, Shastany said.
She then pushed one of the officers, a nd while the two police focused on Gonzalez, Collazo grabbed the second officer's jacket and said, "Get your hands off my girlfriend," according to Shastany.
Collazo screamed as police stru ggled to restrain him and handcuff him against a parked car. Gonzalez swung at another officer with an open fist and knocked his radio off his shoulder, and police twice used pepper spray on her before they could arrest her, said Shastany.
Police called for aid, and e ventually seven more officers showed up to help arrest Collazo and Gonzalez and break up a crowd of about 40 people watching the episode unfold, said Shastany.
"Obviously, this was a dangerous scene," said Shastany.
Collazo, 22, of 32 Depot St., Milford, was charged with domestic assault and battery, assault and battery on a public employee, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, police said.
Gonzalez, 23, of 460 Boston Post Road, Apt. B608, Marlborough, was charged with assault and battery on a public employee, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, police said.
