A 27-year-old Framingham man faces a kidnapping charge after police say he attacked a woman in West Boylston over the weekend and dragged her into the woods before she got away.
Pablo DeSousa, of 35 Frederick St., was arraigned in Clinton District Court Monday on charges of kidnapping, assault and battery, and witness intimidation. He was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail, police said.
Police said a 28-year-old woman and her mother were walking home from a restaurant Sunday around 7 p.m. when she was knocked to the ground from behind by a man she did not recognize and dragged into the woods near the corner of Carol Drive and Shrine Avenue.
With her mother screaming for help, the 28-year-old fought back and eventually broke free, police said. The pair then called 911 as they fled, running into a CVS, police said.
After receiving the report, West Boylston Police and officers from Boylston, Holden and the Worcester County jail set up a search along Rte. 12, police said. A search dog from the jail found DeSousa hiding between two buildings near a Subway restaurant, police said.
The woman identified him as her attacker, police said.
DeSousa is scheduled to return to court tomorrow, the clerk's office said.
