A man called 911 from a building behind Massachusetts General Hospital last night, saying he'd killed his wife and would commit suicide if police entered his apartment, Boston police said.
As throngs of Boston police arrived at the Charles River Park Apartments on Emerson Place just after 9:30, they heard multiple gunshots, Boston police spokesman Eddie Chrispin said.
Police believed they were dealing with a man with a gun who had barricaded himself and possibly a victim in an apartment, said Boston police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll.
Scores of police entered the building with guns - a frightening sight caught on a closed-circuit security camera that was apparantly broadcast to residents of the building for two hours. Finally, when police realized their movements were being shown on residents' television sets - possibly even in the suspect's apartment - someone put a piece of paper over the lobby video camera to block the view.
"It's a bit unsettling, they (police) don't seem to be making any effort to turn the channel off," one resident told the Herald in a phone interview. "They haven't turned the camera off in the hour or two this has been going on. Up until now I've been watching the whole thing unfold with police coming in with guns."
She explained that the camera is located in the lobby, so that when someone rings an apartment the resident can turn on the TV to see who's it is.
The tense situation was still developing at press time.

Web Site Foretold Couple's Death

Police Investigate Murder-Suicide

BOSTON -- The Web site of a couple found dead after what police called a murder-suicide foretold the date of their deaths.

Christian Mogensen, 61, and his wife Sharon Glassman, 60, were found dead in their Boston high-rise apartment early Monday.

Boston Police were called to a standoff about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the Charles River Park apartments at 10 Emerson Place, after a man called them to say he had killed his wife and would kill himself.
The Web site, http://www.mrmogensen.com, which was owned by Glassman, shows a picture of the couple on their wedding day, the dates of their births and deaths and "R.I.P." for each.

Both were found dead of gunshot wounds inside their apartment by a police SWAT team after a lengthy standoff.

Many residents were evacuated from the building during the standoff, while others watched armed police come and go from the building via closed-circuit televisions in the complex.

What a dipshit.

1. The police can't "turn off" cameras on private property.

2. If someone is barricaded with a gun in your apartment building, would you prefer to see the police coming in holding bouquets of flowers?

3. Did you ever think of turning off your television if you didn't want to see it?
