Which is the better t-shirt to wear under body armor,The heat gear or coolmax ts??
Please post the pros and cons to each shirt because i have never owned either.

In June of this year I got 3 coolmax T-shirts from Galls / I did not notice a giant leap in the way coolmax T's worked. I feel a regular T works just as well and for half the price. I did like the fact that the coolmax T's had a lighter material, and did dry alittle faster than a regular T on a hot July/Aug night.

:idea: Go to WalMart and for about $8 you can get shirts of the same material made by Converse (I think) in a variety of colors including white. If you want it to fit tight like under armor just get a size or two smaller than you normally wear. It does make a difference in comfort, not necessarily moisture wise, when you wear it under your body armor all day. In cooler weather it keeps you warmer as well.

OK so its not worth me blowing $25 a shirt or $50 for 3 shirts from galls on these.

I agree w/ the Trooper. Why spend all that cash. Yes Trooper it is Converse or Fruit of The Loom(Tagless)

Absolutely; I've used those coolmax t-shirts and found them to be no better than regular Hanes or fruit of the loom. Incidently I also happen to like those Hanes tagless shirts. Galls is often just out to make the quick buck!

Everyone's right on the money about these shirts. I bought a couple from Sports Authority and found them to be no better than regular T's.

I am coming from a slightly differant angle. I am still in HS, and I play sports all summer long. Under Armour Heatgear is the best undershirt ever made as far I am concerned. I also wear it under my vest as an Explorer. I like the feel of it, and the way that it keeps you cool and dry during strenuous activity.
I have also heard good thing about the Coldgear version of underarmour.
Although I personaly have not worn it. I do plan on getting some though.

I like the feel (bought the WAL-MART brand $8.00 a shirt). They did wick away the sweat and I felt dryer but it only created sweat marks on the under arms of my uniform and my vest was more soaked than usual.

On days like we are having now (mid to low 70's) I might start wearing again because of the feel. But as for hot humid days I think I am just going to stick with the Haynes T's

Its all just a matter of personal taste. I might have to agree with Gil though...
It does seem to make you sweat more when its really hot out.
(although it is probably just because it does not absorb any of your sweat, it just beads and rolls off.)

I prefer any old t-shirt (blue) that is clean. If your gonna sweat, your gonna sweat. It will all be over in eight hours and you can go home and change. I could see buying those shirts Galls sells if you worked down south and it was HOT all the time. Just turn up the ac in the cruiser


PS. can anyone suggest where they can buy a nice pair of black sneakers... b/c those look spiffy with a uniform :L: :L: :L:

I just bought a coolmax T the other day and tried it out for the first time last night. To anyone out there who hasn't tried them, don't bother. I believe I sweat just as much as with a plain old Hanes T! Your going to smell just as bad either way! Just my :2c:
