WESTBROOK, Conn. (AP) - Two Westbrook constables have been suspended with pay while state police investigate their actions before a 68-year-old woman drowned in June.
The New Haven Register reports that the state police are looking into whether Constables Rhea Milardo and Robert Powers displayed a lack of urgency when they were called to check on the woman, Elsie White.
Westbrook First Noel Bishop says the town received information from an internal affairs investigation that led to the constables being placed on leave.
White was found dead on a beach in Westbrook the morning of June 19. The night before, the town's tax collector had called the police and alerted them to concerns she had about White.
