MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut state police say a man's death on Interstate 91 in Meriden remains a mystery.
Troopers say they're not sure yet whether the man was alive or already dead when he was run over by a large truck at about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. An autopsy is planned to try to determine the man's identity and cause of death.
Police say the victim is a 40- to 50-year-old man who was wearing dark clothing and white sneakers. The truck driver, a Meriden resident, stopped after hitting what he first thought was a deer. No charges have been filed.
Two northbound lanes of the highway and ramps from I-691 were closed for several hours because of the police investigation, which tied up traffic in the area during the morning commute.
