Seniority was determined by class academic ranking...except after consolidation, where everyones ID number was changed and issued alphabetically: now you need a crystal ball to discern seniority preceeding and including the 69th. (70th on...I don't know.)

Badge numbers are meaningless except as inventory control numbers.

I think in the latest couple of classes they actually matched ID# to badge#, although I could be wrong...any newbies want to pipe up?

I am out of the 78th RTT and I believe this is true for as far back to the 76th...Our badge # also serves as our ID #.

That is true, every class from the 76th to the prersent has their ID numbers matching their badge number. I was a lucky member of the 75th where your badge number didn't pertain to anything. So when people want to complain and ask for my badge number, I gladly give it to them cause they can't track me down! :D

And BTW, who brought this thread out of retirement? It's like two years old...

Actually, it happens quite frequently. Whether it's someone that thinks it's funny, or someone that really has no clue, it's dangerous and a waste of time. We believe it's both. Some nights it's so bad that we start sending the non emergency ones back to the admin line.... in hopes the Lt. picks up a few and gets sick of it.
Multiple calls into the barracks on the same incident is rather unreasonable too.... but it keeps happening - don't you people listen to each other up there?
Sound like you need to sit at GHQ and take a few hundred calls in an 8 hours shift.

Then you are aware that all 911 calls east of Worcester go to Framingham (GHQ) not the barracks, and *77 calls also go to GHQ. All calls are then transfered to the barracks or local Pd's. No 911 calls go to the barracks directly, never.

What's up with the enhanced 911 system, if someone dials 911 on a cellphone that is in my community, do we get the call or MSP? We just got the new 911 system operational for about three weeks now.

I'm very well aware the calls go to GHQ - 'cept for southeastern mass, that go to "D". And it's "All 911 **CELL** calls that go to GHQ" Then they get transfered to the barracks or locals or whichever PSAP is warranted.
But like I said, there's a heavy amount of duplicate calls, so there's no need to send 30 calls into the barracks for the same incident. I've sat there, yes I do know about the cell calls for the same thing over and over. Sadly, there's likely 3 times the calls about a dead dog in the BDL, than the woman broken down with her children a mile up the road. That's the cell-public for ya. In a whole hour sitting there, there may be 20-30 actual *NEW* incidences to report.
Well, it sounds like we are sitting in the same room doing the same job....so how you can tell me that somebody can dial 911 on their cell and get the "Correct Barracks" they need is beyond me. Ask Blair if that happends and get back to me. Because if that was the case, why wouldn't people dial 911 and get the agency they are looking for, (local PD, Fire,Boston Tow Line)??? Also, when a CD16 comes in and the first person to take the call lets everyone else know in the room, I don't see anyone sending 30 calls to the barracks, doesn't happen on my shift.

Back to the cruiser lights. Are the cruisers set up with the same package (i.e. all marked cruisers)of emergency light systems, and if you want to modify them do you have to spend your own money for extras, such as deck lights.I notice that there are many variations out there.
