:?: I'm looking for some information on what College will be good to look for employment. Retiring form a Municiple PD in April after 27 years. Looking to work at a College PD located south of Boston between 495 and Rt 3. Will travel a little if necessary.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Its not a college, but Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital is a pretty good gig. They're a fully armed, recognized law enforcement agency. They pay about $42G just walking in the door with plenty of OT if needed. In fact they're hiring right now. You can contact the DC at 617-632-8306 for more info or PM me.
Good luck!

Are they looking for entry-level (and will train), or are they looking for folks with experience as a PO?

   I'm new to the College PD scene, but from the postings on this site I know enough to stay away from there.

Besides the word on the street is that Stonehill does not honor the brother hood. Heard they popped a kid of a brother for alcohol, even after a call was made and the officer did not even have the courage to return the call. Very Bad Tabbooo

Heard he is now on a municipal department. Pay back can be a b--ch

NO THANKS!!!!!

They might not be posted as of yet due to the Christmas break. So keep checking the HR departments at both schools. (Another perk of working at a small college, winters and summers are kido free.)

Pay back can be a Bit#h but word is that he was useless at Stonehill and didn't keep the brotherhood.. but don't put that on the rest of the Stonehill Cops. I heard that they were glad that he is gone and want nothing to do with him. But I also didn't hear about them hiring anyone.
All rumors..

It was just one, not the whole dept. I take it there were no rotten apples where you worked? There's one in every dept but that doesn't speak for the whole. Anyway, they usually move on which is just as well.

pdfrenzy,

Look into second career with the VA or DOD Police. Good coin and won't affect your pension! Yee-Haw

Not sure what Wheaton is like, have heard both good and bad. Curry is under new management so it looks like it should be doing a complete turn around. Should be getting police powers and new equipment.
Worked for Stonehill. Most guys are good, but the rumors you heard are true. That person left, but there are a few more still there. The good ones are looking.Comming from a municiple department, Stonehill would be a disappointment to you.
What city did you work for?

I would stay away from Stonehill and Bridgewater State College. Now that the MCJTC is cutting campus police from their trainings and academies all these schools that used have good reputations are slowly turning into turn-key security positions. No citations. If I read correctly it said that Bridgewater State College shouldn't even be pulling cars over. Is that true?

I had a chance to work at a school and I'm glad I had the option not to. I have a question if UMASS and the other schools are going to the MBTA Academy how much longer before the MBTA loses their good reputation as a squared away academy and that turns into an academy for security. I don't see them accepting colleges much longer and losing their much deserved reputation. Best of luck!

 Thanks. I have to stay away from state college as they only allow retired PO to work someting like 960 hours for a state or municiple employer. They call it double dipping. I call it Bull S--t.
I'm planning to stay away from stonehill. Do not know much about it, but what I'm hearing does not sound like fun. Still considering the federal sector,

Thanks....
