Hello everyone. I recently got a ticket for speeding. I was going 56 in a 40. I am 16 years old and I had my license for 4 1/2 months, with no tickets prior.

I do not need you to tell me that I am a dumbass for speeding, or that I should learn my lesson. I know that, and I already did.

Is there any way I can appeal this ticket and win? Or at least get a reduced suspension?

Also, am I better off admitting that I was in the wrong?

The cop also told me that I should try to appeal this ticket, instead of paying for it. What does that mean?

    Thank you.

Kilvinsky I think, therefore I'll never be promoted.

First off, OF COURSE admit you're wrong!
Second, it never hurts to appeal, but that guarantees nothing.
Third, we've all been dumbasses, don't beat yourself up too much, but to state you've had not prior tickets in the FOUR AND ONE HALF MONTHS you've had your license is frankly, not all that impressive. Don't try to use it to impress the clerk at court if/when you appeal.
Fourth, be truthfully contrite, don't try to act all sorry without a hint of meaning it. You just might get a clerk who was 16 and dumb once him/herself.
Fifth, Good luck and definitely USE this experience and learn from it.

    Thank you for your response.

This is probably dumb question, but is admitting im wrong the same as pleading guilty?

Go to the Magistrates hearing and impress on him/her that you are both young and truly sorry..........
You may get a pleasant surprise. No guarantees but you'll never know until you try

Was the cop wearing his/her hat? If not, tell it to the clerk.
